Paramount Revives Frasier

After tossing his last salad in 2004, Frasier Crane is coming back to screens. The American sitcom centred on a Seattle-based psychiatrist (Kelsey Grammer) won a record 37 Primetime Emmy Awards across 11 seasons.

Paramount+ is airing the two-episode premiere on October 12, with episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays throughout a ten-episode run. Before then, we've got our first look at the show, complete with a brand new recording of the theme song sung by none other than Grammer himself.

Just like the old times, Frasier is once again filmed in front of a live studio audience, which should add some authenticity to the raucous laughs. It sees the rich socialite enter the next chapter of his life by returning to Boston, where we first met the character in another celebrated American sitcom, Cheers (Frasier is a spinoff).

Sadly, don’t expect to see his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce), who decided to pass on the series, nor appearances from his father Martin (John Mahoney) or dog Eddie (Moose), who are no longer with us.

Still, there are plenty of new relationships for Frasier to forge, including Jack Cutmore-Scott as son Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor Alan; and Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department. Listen to the new theme song below.
