Parents Name Baby in Honor of Late Dog and People Are Here for It
What a sweet way to honor the loss of a pet.
It's not unheard of to name a child after a beloved relative who has died, but what if the loss in your life is a beloved pet? Losing a dog can be one of the greatest losses a person can ever experience. Naming a baby after a pet can be a touching way to honor the memory of the pet and keep their legacy alive. It can also be a way to express the deep bond and love between the pet and their owner, and demonstrate the importance of pets in our lives.
TikTok user @Ambyrs_ understands this, and decided to name their son after their dog who died two days before they welcomed their child.

Oh My Goodness, adorable dog, adorable kid! While naming a baby after a late dog may not be the most appropriate choice for everyone, there are instances where it may work out and be well-received by friends and family. It really depends on what your dog's name was, and a lot of TikTok users are having a hard time imagining this for their own kid, with @WhitneyVinyard commenting, "Awe I would do that with my gal Zoe, but draw the line at my cat Turd Ferguson." LOL! @Anna-Marie replies, "This is my son pretzel.” TikTok user @HeatherAllen is here for this idea, and asks, "Why not name him after something that is the purest thing on earth?" Awwwww. @Daisy9993 adds, "I did. I lost my soul dog 24 hours before my water broke. My son has his middle name 'Charlie' after my dog."
For those curious about what the name ended up being, TikTok user @Beanie says, "It’s Henry Myles, it was in another video."
People get so opinionated on what someone names their baby, but if the name is chosen carefully and with consideration it can be a beautiful and meaningful way to pay tribute to the pet. Plus, at the end of the day it's YOUR kid. You can name it Pretzel if you want to!
