Back in Paris Hilton's heyday (you may recall her starring in a little show called The Simple Life), a sex tape between Paris and ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked, causing a complete media frenzy and becoming a major moment in pop culture.

But now, 14 years later, Paris is getting candid about what it felt like to have her tape released to the world, and sounds like it's something that still upsets her.

Decider reports that in an interview for the Netflix documentary The American Meme, Paris tearfully shares that after One Night in Paris was leaked, “Literally overnight my entire life changed…everyone was making fun of it. I didn’t leave my house for, like months. I was so embarrassed. I felt like everyone on the street was laughing at me.”

Paris also says of the leak, “It was like being raped. It felt like I’ve lost part of my soul and been talked about in such cruel and mean ways.”

This is heartbreaking to hear, especially because the tape was released without Paris' consent and is clearly not what she wanted. But hopefully now, after so much time has passed, Paris has gotten the closure from this that she needs.

The American Meme is out now.
