Paris Jackson Shares Unknown Fact About Late Dad Michael Jackson on His Birthday
Paris Jackson is making sure to respect her dad's wishes as she marks what would have been his 65th birthday.
Paris, the only daughter of the late music legend, took to social media for Michael Jackson's birthday on Tuesday, Aug. 29, where she revealed an interesting fact about her dad's feeling toward birthdays in general.
"He used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him a happy birthday, celebrating it, nothing like that," the 25-year-old shared in a video shared to Instagram.
"He actually didn't want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn't want us to throw a party," she further explained.
The model and singer went on to address the criticism she often receives for not making a grand celebration of her dad's birthday, despite that being what the late King of Pop actually would have wanted.
"There have been times where I don't post anything for my dad's birthday, and people lose their f--king minds," she stated, noting that people have even told her to end her life over it on some occasions.
"They're basically gauging my love for my own father based on what I post on Instagram," she added.
To squash all of the chatter, Paris included a clip from a performance on stage earlier the same day, where she opened up about how much her dad means to her, stating, “He put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did, so that I can stand up here onstage in front of you and scream into a microphone,” before adding, "I owe everything to him."
Also in her Instagram video on Tuesday, Paris suggested that any "super-fans" of her dad could better honor his birthday by advocating for climate action or animal rights activism, two causes that the late singer-songwriter was passionate about.
In her caption, she further insisted, "Please don’t use a man you have never met as an excuse to abuse, manipulate, and harass his daughter (who you also have never met)."
She ended her message with a positive message, that read, "L O V E" with a red heart emoji.
