Partridge Creek Farm holds first Volunteer Days of the season

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WJMN) – Partridge Creek Farm held its first Volunteer Days on Thursday afternoon at its Intergenerational Farm in Ishpeming.

Partridge Creek invites the public to join them for some hands-on farming activities that will help benefit the community. Volunteer Days will be held every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. until mid-October at its Intergenerational Farm located at 550 Cleveland Avenue. There will be no event next week in observance of Independence Day.

Allison Stawara, the farm manager, says these days are a chance to be “put to work and get your hands dirty”. She added that volunteers are often able to take home some of the fruits of the gardens.

“Come and visit us. Come and volunteer. We’re going to do something a little different every week depending on the weather and what we need to do. Farms are a dynamic place so there’s always something interesting going on,” said Stawara.

If you’re interested in purchasing seasonal produce, a farmstand is open every Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at their Cleveland Avenue location.

Partridge Creek Farm will be holding events throughout the summer to fulfill their mission of providing food access and education to the community. For more details on those events and how you can get involved, please visit their website.
