Passenger shamed for giving herself a pedicure on an airplane

Kicking the chair in front of you on a flight is bad enough, but one airplane passenger took rudeness to new heights. A woman who clearly did not have enough time to groom herself before catching her flight was caught on camera giving herself a pedicure at 36,000 feet. The high-flying self-pamperer is being shamed for the stunt, now that the footage has been posted on Instagram.

Passenger Shaming, an Instagram account dedicated to, well, doing just that, shared the clip, which seems to show the passenger buffing her soles with a foot file. She makes no attempt to hide the unhygienic activity.

The video, which has been viewed more than 137,000 times, has garnered all kinds of reactions from grossed-out commenters. “How is even allowed to do that! Disgusting and I would have raised hell if I were sitting next her. YUCK!!,” one person wrote. “Are you f***ing kidding me???? I am seriously losing all hope in humanity,” another opined.

Not a single person defended the passenger, and some were so appalled that they suggested the passenger be banned from the airline or at least fly with the cargo next time.

The Passenger Shaming account is a treasure trove of bad behavior on public transportation, much of which involves similarly abominable habits. In September, the account posted a photo someone had taken of a fellow passenger’s feet propped up on the arm of her airplane seat; the feet were caked with dirt.

In fact, foot-related transgressions seem to be the most popular offense for airplane passengers, despite the myriad ways there are to annoy one another. One post even showed a person taking a nap with his feet and legs sprawled out on his neighbor’s tray table as if it were an ottoman.

Passenger Shaming even has a dedicated a hashtag for the phenomenon of foot crimes in airplane cabins: #FlyingFeetFriday.

Although the shenanigans are rampant, one commenter is putting her foot down and offering what seems like an ideal solution: “Can we all just agree to wear socks on airplanes?”
