Just one week after Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested on suspicion of DWI, the former pro baseball player's son, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, won the Super Bowl. However, Mahomes Sr. was nowhere in sight—or at least, that's what many spectators thought.
On Sunday, Feb. 11, there was notably a lack of photos and video clips circulating online of Mahomes Sr. at the big game between the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. It turns out that he did attend the 2024 Super Bowl in Las Vegas, Nev.; he just kept a relatively low profile.
Mahomes Jr.'s mom, Randi Martin, took to Instagram on Monday, Feb. 12 to share a group photo from the night before. In the shot, the Chiefs quarterback, who was named Super Bowl MVP for the third time, posed with his wife, Brittany Mahomes, and their two young children, daughter Sterling, 2, and Patrick "Bronze" Lavon, 1, who were decked out in matching Chiefs gear. Also in the photo were Randi, Mahomes Jr.'s brother, Jackson Mahomes, his sister, Mia Randall—and then Mahomes Sr. to the far left.

On Saturday, Feb. 3, Mahomes Sr., 53, was arrested in Tyler, Texas, on suspicion of DWI, according to public records. He was held at Smith County Jail following the arrest; the listed charge was driving while intoxicated for the third time or more. On Sunday, Feb. 4, Mahomes Sr. was released on a $10,000 bond.
Mahomes Sr.'s recent incident comes after two prior DWI charges—one in 2018 and another in 2019. Additionally, his jail record shows two separate DWI arrests in 2012.
