Patrick Mahomes proved once again that he always has Travis Kelce's back, both on and off the football field. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback spoke about Kelce's romance with singer Taylor Swift during the Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night press conference in Las Vegas, admitting that it's been "cool" to see the couple get together.
While answering questions from Extra TV, he added that he appreciated getting to be “a little bit a part of it." As a close friend of Kelce's, Mahomes was also able to shed a little light on Kelce's feelings for Swift and their relationship, telling the reporters, “He’s enjoying it. He’s enjoying just being able to be in a great relationship and then also being able to play great football as well."
The football team had a great season this year, with a lot of wins heading into the NFL playoffs. Now, the Chiefs are gearing up for the big Super Bowl game on Feb. 11.
"It’s been a heck of a season, a heck of a run, and I’m glad that he’s [as] happy as he is," Mahomes concluded about Kelce and Swift. The 28-year-old also noted that he didn't mind getting questions about Swift at the football press conference, saying, "She just won Album of the Year, man, so you gotta get some Swiftie questions."
Mahomes referred to Swift's 14th Grammy win, as she took home the award for Album of the Year on Sunday, Feb. 4, for Midnights, as well as Best Pop Vocal Album. The singer-songwriter even broke a record, becoming the first person to win Album of the Year four times in their career.
Along with nabbing a couple of awards, Swift also announced that her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, would be coming out in April. This was a bit of a surprise for Swifties, as many were convinced that she was about to announce the release of Reputation (Taylor's Version).
