Paulina Porizkova is thrilled to turn 57.

On April 9, the model posted a smiling, no-filter selfie on Instagram, along with a caption about celebrating her last year around the sun.

“57 and proud of it,” she began her post. “Age is in fact a number, the number of years we have been fortunate enough to be here to sample everything life has to offer. The number of years we have had to improve ourselves and by extension, the lives of those around us. Getting older is truly a wondrous thing- and none of us, ever, should be anything but proud of our number.”

Porizkova received lots of love in the comments section. One follower wrote, "Love it so much that you are bringing that awareness to women! I’m turning 51 end of this month and could not feel better and so in tune with myself! Thank you for using your platform to share a beautiful and real message that aging is a blessing to women, not a curse!" Another added, "Happy, happy birthday, beautiful!!! Thank you for being an inspiration of strength and class. Sending you love and all beautiful things in life!!"

The America’s Next Top Model alum, who is currently competing on the CBS reality series Beyond the Edge with celebrities like Full House star Jodie Sweetin and former NFL player Ray Lewis, has long spoken out about how damaging society’s obsession with youth is. In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, she opened up about the negative comments she has received when posting photos of herself in a bikini.

“I look good,” Porizkova said of the pictures. “I didn’t realize it would be shocking for a 50-something woman to pose in the same bikinis from 30 years ago that still fit. It’s OK to ogle somebody who could be your daughter but not mature women who know themselves and are most likely way better at sex?”\

In December 2021, she took to Instagram to share how she’s grown more confident in her skin with age, especially as she moved on from the death of her estranged husband, Ric Ocasek.

"When I was younger, I put on lingerie for HIM. Now I dress in lingerie for ME," she wrote. "No, I no longer have the suppleness of youth, but I have the softness of maturity. My eyes may not be as clearly defined or wide, but they see so much more. My lips may not be as full, but they are far more willing to speak truths and laugh without restraint. My hair is no longer brown, but the softening silver strands add interest and contrast. My skin no longer reflects light like a polished mirror, instead it gathers it, and puts it inside my heart, where it warms and makes me shine.”
