Penélope Cruz turns heads in white dress at Carpisa store opening

The no white before Memorial Day rule does not apply to Penélope Cruz. The Murder on the Orient Express actress wowed on Tuesday at the opening of a new Carpisa store in Madrid, Spain. The mom-of-two showed off her trim figure wearing a white David Koma dress that featured diagonal black stripes to the party held at the Italian Embassy. Penélope accessorized her fresh, summer look with a matching white handbag and open-toe black heels.

The 43-year-old and her sister Monica Cruz recently launched their spring 2017 capsule collection for the handbag company. The new collection, which is described as “trendy and sophisticated," features colorful bags with refined and contemporary lines. Penélope has been working with the brand since 2015 when she was tapped as the new face of Carpisa. The Spanish actress took to Instagram to share a photo of herself from the May 9 event, which she simply captioned, “Thank you #carpisa Grazie!”

Penélope’s outing follows husband Javier Bardem’s recent interview with GQ UK during which he admitted to thinking twice about dating his Vicky Cristina Barcelona co-star. “Oh, boy. She has that feistiness,” Javier said of his wife. “There are those scenes [in the film Vicky Cristina Barcelona] where we are arguing, she's throwing plates and so on. I had to wonder, 'Do I really want this?’” However in the end, it was Penélope's passion that won the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales actor over. “She has what I call the loving blood,” Javier explained. “Passion for everything. That’s what I find attractive. There is beauty and there is being sexy. Penélope has both.”
