Pennsylvania K9 Given Emotional Send-Off After Being Diagnosed with Cancer
Zoe served on the force for 7 years.
A Dutch Shepherd K-9 named Zoe who worked bravely with the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, took her last walk today after she was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Throughout her career, Zoe used her abilities to help catch criminals a total of 360 times. She’s completed 50 apprehensions, 46 building searches, 90 narcotic vehicle and residential searches, and 48 tracks, among other accomplishments.

According to ABC27, the Bureau credits K9 hero Zoe with the seizure of over $20,000 in cash, 8.8 kilos of Cocaine, 60 grams of Fentanyl, 35 pounds of Marijuana, and nearly four kilos of Methamphetamine. While undergoing treatment, Zoe will now be in the full-time care of her long-time handler Corporal Don Bender and his family. In the article, Bender is quoted as saying, "Everyone has a once in a lifetime dog. For me, she’s that. Of all these K9s, you can’t ask for a better partner.”
