This man's creepy Pennywise Jeep is freaking people out
Move over, drivers: Pennywise is in the fast lane.
That’s at least the case in Louisville, Ky., where a man named Andrew Johnson has been decorating his rare right-hand–drive Jeep in various themes for six years now, according to CBS outlet WLKY. And this time around, in honor of the release of the It: Chapter Two movie, he’s put scary-clown Pennywise in the left-side passenger seat, terrifying drivers all around town.
Along with the demonic Stephen King character, Johnson’s vehicle comes bearing fake blood, balloons, quotes and other images from the film.
"The only one they had on the lot was right-hand-drive. So, I got in and took it for a test drive and thought, 'This is really, really fun,’” Johnson told the Courier-Journal. “And I drove it around and everyone kept looking and wondering why there was nobody driving this particular vehicle. So my brother and I came up with the idea of putting a skeleton there… and everybody went crazy about that. After a few months I had to step up my game. It's progressed to different characters, different themes ... every vehicle gets more expensive and more elaborate."
Johnson is used to people following him to take photos and videos—one driver even tailed him across state lines.
“It’s a lot of fun, it's entertaining to people. I’m always the attraction,” he added. “Wherever I go, I have to plan an extra 30 minutes just for that.”
While some have, of course, loved the traveling horror star, others have been traumatized by the sight of Pennywise in the driver’s seat.
“I’ve had to calm a lot of people down. I had one lady praying to Jesus,” Johnson told the Courier-Journal.
