'Who does that?': People are aghast after man samples soup directly from ladle in supermarket
Tomorrow is Halloween, but you’re about to witness the most terrifying, stomach-churning video on the internet today.
After hitting play, you may never want to utilize your local supermarket’s hot bar again: A man was videotaped sampling soup straight from the serving ladle at an unnamed grocery store.

Some eagled-eyed Twitter users believe the location of the store to be in the Chicago area, perhaps a Mariano’s supermarket. One commenter wrote, “Mine… I love the soup bar there I’m sooooo grossed out.”
The user who uploaded the footage to Reddit claims that the video captures the man during his second soup tasting. After filming the man sampling the soups, he reported the man to security.
So how clean are serve-yourself food bars, anyway? There’s a sneeze-guard put in place for a reason, and food needs to be kept at certain temperatures; otherwise, bacteria will multiply. But it’s your fellow customers you should be cautious of — food, especially salad ingredients, can be contaminated with diarrhea-causing germs.
However, several Reddit users were unfazed by the video. “We tell new hires to never eat anything from the hot bar, olive bar, or soup station because this is incredibly common,” commented user MonFeesh, who works in a grocery store. “The amount of people who think nothing of plunging their hands into a buffet and rationalizing it as ‘sampling’ is astounding.”
Added user ezcompany210: “I worked at a grocery store where this happened a few times. Believe it or not, management forbade us workers from confronting the individual. Every time we saw this we literally had to pass it up to our manager so that she could call the store manager to come down and resolve it, by which point the guy would have left already. We had to throw away a lot of soup.”
User UnhappySea spoke for many, writing: “I’m never eating at a hot bar or buffet again.”
