If you think you've ever hit a low point in your life, just know that Texas senator Ted Cruz spent his weekend in a one-sided Twitter beef with America's beloved muppet, Big Bird.
Yes, you read that correctly. It all started when Big Bird tweeted that he got his COVID-19 vaccine.
Cruz responded, accusing Elmo's feathery friend of "government propaganda." It was the cringiest thing ever.
As you can imagine, Twitter went wild. President Biden even stepped in to show his support for the muppet.
Everyone else, however, took the opportunity to dunk on Cruz.
After all, he is the same guy who flew to Cancun during the devastating winter storm that left his state without water and power for days.
So, I guess you could say he had it coming.
It seemed like everyone had it out for the senator.
It was pretty funny.
This tweet came along...
...and it caused someone to make a parody account called "Big Bird for Senate." It gained over 37,000 followers in a matter of days.
The jokes continued with more parody accounts.
It was hilarious.
Although, regardless of what anyone says, it looks like Big Bird has always been a big advocate for vaccines. Just watch this Sesame Street clip from 1972.
Big Bird himself hasn't responded to any of the madness yet, but we'll be sure to update you if he does.
