People have mixed feelings about Rihanna's new line of 40 foundation shades
Getting foundation shades to match every skin tone is an ongoing struggle that many brands face. While some companies have made strides by extending their existing lines, there are newer brands coming out with a wide range of shades.
Take Rihanna’s newly launched Fenty Beauty, for example: The line includes a whopping 40 shades.
Thursday evening, Rihanna officially debuted Fenty Beauty in New York. “The Fenty Face was created for women of all skin tones, of all personalities,” Rihanna shared in a statement regarding her new line. “These steps are key to starting your makeup, no matter the look you’re going for. This is where the fun begins.”
The 29-year-old’s long-awaited cosmetics line includes an array of face-enhancing products with everything from primers and highlighters to makeup brushes and blotting papers. The most talked-about products are the 40 options of Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation available. People were overjoyed to hear that there are so many shades — with a swatch for nearly every skin tone.
Several took to Twitter to express their love for the highly inclusive foundation line.

But not everyone is a fan. While lots of people are excited about it, a few shared some disapproving thoughts on the new line — with some saying there still weren’t enough shade options. Others talked about the models in the campaign having filtered photos, while some gave out warnings about selecting a shade carefully, as the formula oxidizes.
The Fenty Beauty foundation oxidizes! I had to go a shade lighter

I'm actually kinda disappointed by Fenty Beauty's shade range like 3/4 of them are for fairer skin tones pic.twitter.com/HIO18nhWzd

Fenty beauty foundation packaging is really nice. The one thing I don't like about frosted bottles is it alters the foundation shade.

If you are curious about Fenty Beauty’s foundation shades, the best solution is to visit your local Sephora, test out the shades in person, and get your perfect match. Cheers to a flawless canvas thanks to RiRi.
