People On TikTok Are Learning That The Flat Spots On Ice Cube Trays Actually Serve A Purpose
If you live or have ever lived in a house or apartment sans a fancy ice maker, you know the struggles of making your own ice using ice cube trays. No one enjoys filling them up, but people on TikTok are realizing there is an easier way to do it: Use the flat spots along the center of the tray.
The TikTok account @4jmjcbitxh shared a video revealing that the flat spots on ice cube trays actually serve a purpose. If you run a stream of water on top of those spots, an even amount of water will spread into the four cube molds that it connects. Once those are all full, you can move on to the next flat spot.
A lot of people had no clue the flat spots were there for a reason. “I was today years old when I learned this,” one person commented. "Bro that never came with a manual so u good," another wrote. Someone else shared that you don’t even have to move it. If you leave the water running on one flat spot, it will eventually fill the whole tray. Others suggested that if you angle the tray downward and run the water from the top of the tray, it will fill up in a waterfall fashion in seconds.
Those who typically toss an ice cube tray under a stream of running water and hope for the best (hi, me!) no longer have to endure that kind of agony. Cheers to the wonderful world of TikTok discoveries!
