So which tie should your new husband wear on your big day? Here are a few options.
Classic: If you're having a formal or traditional wedding, a classic tie is the way to go. This is the type of tie you most often see in office settings or at formal events. Match the color of the tie with the bridesmaids' dresses, or go with a neutral like gray or black. A standard tie is anywhere from 55-58 inches long. Skinny: Skinny ties became a hit in the 60s when bands like The Beatles popularized them. Skinny ties are a slightly hipster, fashion-forward choice that can be a great accessory for a modern wedding.
Bowtie: Bowties can range from very formal (worn with a tuxedo) to very informal (quirky patterns or bright colors that match the wedding theme). They're a versatile choice for stylish grooms. They fit snugly around your neck and your groom can wear a different color than his groomsmen to stand out. Ascot: An ascot is a very formal choice. Ascots are ties with wider wings usually reserved for morning or daytime affairs. If you're having a formal daytime wedding, an ascot could be the right choice.
What about fabrics? Some great lightweight fabrics are great for summer, like silk, linen, or cotton. Having a winter wonderland soiree? Lean more towards wool or cashmere. Also, don't forget about the care and keeping of your groom's tie. Ties shouldn't be folded; they should either be hung on a tie rack or laid flat. Make sure there are no creases or wrinkles so that the ties — both your groom's and his groomsmen's — look their best for the big day.
