Personal Trainer Covers Her Mirror With Empowering Quotes to Inspire Confidence
Personal trainer and nutrition coach Roos, of popular Instagram account fitroosje, often posts about her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and her own journey to love her body.
The Netherlands-based body-positive blogger recently shared a mirror selfie while posing in a crop top and bathing-suit bottom. The mirror featured in her shot was adorned with pink Post-it notes that featured positive, inspiring, and motivational messages.

In the caption, she challenged her followers to post their own shots with inspirational Post-it notes.
“I dare you to do this too, BECAUSE YOU DESERVE THIS! KEEP REMINDING YOURSELF THAT YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! It doesn’t have to be a bikini photo or whatever; just show me that you put post-its on your mirror to remind yourself every time you look in the mirror.”
She also instructed them to add the hashtag #fitroosjemirrorchallenge to the photo. She tells Yahoo Style that her peers’ reactions to their own bodies partly influenced her decision to post the message on body image.
“When I posted the picture on my Instagram with the Post-its, I was inspired by the things I’d hear friends of mine and other women say about themselves when they look in the mirror,” she says. “I did the same thing sometimes and realized that it was time for a change. I think that we are so critical of ourselves these days and we only see our imperfections as awful, and I think that is definitely not OK. I believe that self-love is the most important love you will ever need in your life.”
She has dealt with insecurities in the past and says it took time to reach a place where she was comfortable in her own skin.
“When I was younger I used to look at myself in the mirror and thought that I was not good enough — that I was too big and that I needed to change to get accepted. Until I realized that all the girls on Instagram are just human too and are not that ‘perfect’ as they may seem online.”
Roos says that the Post-it notes help remind her to love her body. “I tried something new, by putting the Post-its on my mirror and found out it helped me a lot. It reminds me that I am beautiful just the way I am. That I don’t need to change and that I don’t need to look like that other girl because I never will, just because I’m a different person with a different body.”
Some of the blogger’s followers actually took her up on her photo challenge. “When I posted the picture I got very sweet and hopeful responses of my followers and a lot of them thought that it was a super good idea! Some of them actually joined the challenge too!”

However, Roos admitted some of her followers weren’t as comfortable. “Some of them said that they could not do it — or not yet — because they were still insecure about themselves. I think that it is so sad, but I know that they will get there one day.”
Through her platform, she wants to embolden women and promote body acceptance.
“I hope that people finally realize that perfection doesn’t exist and that you should be proud of yourself and your body — no matter what it looks like,” she says. “Stop comparing yourself to others. You will never look like anybody else anyway. You are a limited edition — perfectly imperfect and beautiful just the way you are.”
