PETA Approves Kseniaschnaider’s ‘Fur’ Jeans

The $600 jean features Kseniaschnaider’s signature denim fur—a hair-like texture made from reworked vintage denim and frayed offcuts. The jean won in the category “Best Vegan Pants.”
Denim fur has been a staple in Kseniaschnaider’s collections for years. The technique has been applied footwear and jackets as well as a Spring 2023 collaboration with New York-based denim brand, DL1961.
PETA Germany said they recognized the brand’s “unwillingness of throwing even the smallest pieces of fabric into a landfill and designers’ love for hairy animal friends.”
“With its Denim Fur Jeans, Kseniaschnaider shows in an exemplary way that sustainable and vegan fashion creations are possible at any time. Dressing vegan is good for animals, people and the environment. We hope that many other fashion brands will follow this forward-looking example and also create and design their collections purely plant-based and free of animal materials,” said Harald Ullmann, co-founder and second chairman of PETA Germany.
Now in its 11th year, the PETA Vegan Award celebrates fashion companies and designers dedicated to creating animal-friendly clothing, shoes, accessories, and bags. The 2024 winners include Berlin-based GmbH for its innovative leather biker jacket, Armedangels for its eco-conscious recycled linen blazer, and footwear designer Amina Muaddi for her stylish Brito Slipper heels crafted from plexiglass and TPU, among others.
