Petar Petrov RTW Fall 2021
Over the last year, Petar Petrov seamlessly transitioned from his popular suits to outerwear, cozy knits and cool leather separates — his purist, minimal vision maintaining its relevance, despite the dramatic changes 2020 brought. Now the Vienna-based designer is looking ahead to a fall 2021 season, where everyone is still waiting to see what the “new normal” will look like. His answer? “Clothes for whatever happens” that meld comfort with elegance, can be dressed up or down and will stay relevant — no matter what the future holds.
The look: Laid-back elegance achieved by playing with proportions — cool, oversize outerwear and blazers were paired with new, slimmer silhouettes — and injecting elevated casualwear into the brand’s signature tailored look, from loose denim pants to the world’s most luxurious silk-cashmere hoodie, designed to dabble between the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Quote of note: “People will still need softness. We’ve lived in comfort for so long, we need to take the benefits of that [lifestyle] and bring them together with fashion and style. The idea of adapting homeware for the street is really interesting,” Petrov said.
Standout pieces: A draped top and matching trousers featuring a striking wood print and figure-hugging midi dresses made using a new “popcorn” elasticated material — addressing our need to stay comfortable but also to “be more seen and stop hiding behind oversize clothes.”
Takeaway: Petrov made a compelling statement about where we are and where we are transitioning towards. By exploring new territory, be it denim, knitwear or formfitting dresses, he also highlighted his brand’s potential to grow beyond its signature suits. Lifestyle categories are also said to be in the works.
