Photo apparently showing 2 people doing it atop the Great Pyramid is making Egypt really angry: 'Very disrespectful and ignorant'
A Danish photographer is being investigated by Egyptian officials after posting photos that apparently show him trespassing and possibly even having seχ on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Andreas Hvid posted a video to YouTube on Friday featuring himself and an unidentified female friend climbing the pyramid in late November. Against the backdrop of the city of Cairo, the video follows the two as they wander around the top of the tallest of the three Great Pyramids, later showing the friend beginning to take her clothes off. An image that has since been posted to Hvid’s website illustrates what seemingly happened next.
According to NBC, Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities has already released a statement saying the incident “violates public morality,” and are requesting an investigation by the Attorney General. The former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities and former director general of Giza Plateau, Zahi Hawass, however, told the outlet that the photos are likely to be fake.
“One hundred percent it is photoshopped,” the archaeologist told NBC. “There is no way anyone can enter the Pyramids area at night.”
Hawass also pointed out that the stones were “too small” to be from the Pyramid. If the footage is determined to be real by authorities, however, he said, Hvid will be penalized based on any damage that may have been done to the historical landmark.
“On behalf of historians and archaeologists everywhere, I hope you both end up in jail,” one person commented on the video. Another called the stunt “very disrespectful and ignorant.”
Regardless of public opinion, Hvid told Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet that he’s had a dream of climbing the Great Pyramids and doing a shoot there for some time. And as for what he and the friend were actually doing in the photo that’s circulating, Hvid claimed that it was nothing.
“We did not have seχ and we never had it,” he told the Danish outlet.
