Photos of filthy work station and employee sleeping on bathroom floor force pizza shop to close
Here’s an interesting question one wouldn’t think to ask at etiquette school: Do you wake the only employee, who is napping on the floor of the bathroom, in order to purchase a pizza? Or do you let him rest?
We ask because of news that an employee at a Bay Area Papa Murphy’s, which makes take-and-bake pizzas, allegedly caught snoozing on the job by a would-be customer. Now the photo, along with a snap of the food prep area, has gone viral — resulting in the Pacifica location closing “indefinitely.”
An anonymous woman told ABC7 News that her husband went to the Pacifica Papa Murphy’s location and took the photos of what appears to be an employee asleep in the bathroom, complete with pillow and blankets, and of the less-than-tidy food prep station. The couple chose not to take home a pizza.
The photos, originally shared on Facebook, were reposted on a Bay Area Reddit page.
Papa Murphy’s provided the following statement to SFGate.com regarding the now viral photos of the franchise: “Papa Murphy’s is committed to supporting our independently owned and operated stores in providing high standards of quality and service for our customers. The Franchise Owner is aware of the matter, and at this time we have no comment.”
Papa Murphy’s corporate office informed ABC7 News that the location is now closed until it can be brought up to proper standards. The company did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.
