Despite looking a little different due to pandemic precautions, Trooping the Colour went on today in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's 95th birthday. The event, which is typically one of the biggest on the royal family's calendar, was held in a smaller fashion (though no less festive) for the second year in a row. The military display, which took place at Windsor Castle this morning, highlighted soldiers who have played a key role in the NHS's COVID-19 response, as well as those who have been serving overseas. And, as royal reported Victoria Murphy noted elsewhere on T&C, "in a hopeful sign that things are beginning to return to normal, there was a larger military presence than last year."

Today's ceremony also marks the Queen's first Trooping the Colour since her husband, Prince Philip died. She was instead accompanied by her cousin, the Duke of Kent, who is Colonel of the Scots Guards.
