Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith
Pierce Brosnan is getting candid about the challenges of marriage.
The former 007 actor recently opened up about his long-lasting marriage to wife Keely Shaye Smith, whom he wed over 20 years ago in 2001.
While talking to Fox News, Brosnan, 70, opened up about the highs and lows of his relationship with Shaye Smith, 60, telling the outlet, "We like each other a lot. We love each other a lot," which is an important foundation to have when challenges are thrown their way.
"And we've been down the road, and we've seen many, many hardships as families do, as we all do," he honestly stated.
"But watching someone grow up with you and grow old with you is a very spiritual journey," he continued, while going on to say that nothing can get in the way of their marriage as long as the love is still there.
"To watch each other change…whatever it may be, the hair, the waist. But it's the love in the heart," the Fast Charlie star said.
Plus, Brosnan also credited his wife with being his biggest supporter over the years, even when his big Hollywood career required him to travel all over the place for filming.
"Keeley is a journalist, a reporter. She's an artist in her own right. And as a woman, she has made a family for our sons," said Brosnan, who shares his two youngest sons—Paris, 22, and Dylan, 26—with Shaye Smith.
"She allows me to go out into the wild blue yonder and do what I do as a man, as an actor, [she] always has," the actor added.
