Pilot orders 23 pizzas for passengers stuck on plane during snowstorm
An Air Canada pilot is being praised for his kindness after he ordered pizzas for his passengers who were stuck on the tarmac due to inclement weather.
Air Canada Flight 608 left Toronto and was en route to Halifax, Nova Scotia on Monday night when bad weather caused the plane to divert to Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Since boarding at Toronto, passengers had been on the plane for about eight hours when the pilot realized the best way to calm passengers was to order them pizza.
Roch Larivée, the manager at Minglers Restaurant and Pub in Oromocto, told CBC News that he took the pilot’s order, which included 23 pizzas with cheese and pepperoni, and informed him the restaurant’s team would have them ready and delivered to the airport in an hour to an hour and a half.
“We do a catering business here too, so we’re used to unusual numbers, but I mean on a storm night? For a plane? No,” Larivée told CBC News.
Larivée called the plane and the pilot sent people to meet the delivery at the door.

Philomena Hughes, a passenger on the flight, told CBC News, “It was something that could have been very stressful; he made it a lot easier. There was lots of help, there were a couple of Air Canada Jazz pilots that were traveling on the plane and they were helping to pick up the pizza and distribute it. Everybody chipped in, so he didn’t want to take the whole credit for himself.”
Passengers on the flight were then scheduled to fly from Fredericton to Halifax on Tuesday afternoon.
