Pokémon Concierge Release Date Announced Alongside Adorable Trailer
Pokemon Concierge Psyduck
Pokémon Concierge, an adorable stop motion series that was announced earlier in the year, took the world by storm with its cute visuals, even if it was just a teaser at the time. Now, Netflix and The Pokémon Company have released a trailer, and given a release date for Pokémon Concierge.
The new series, which will span four episodes when it releases next month, features delightful visuals from Japanese animation studio dwarf studios (yes, all lowercase), which specializes in stop motion animation. It’s being directed by Iku Ogawa, with concept art and character design by Tadahiro Uesugi, who previously worked as a concept artist for Coraline, Big Hero 6, and Luca.
The newly-released trailer for Pokémon Concierge runs for about two minutes, and introduces us to lead character Haru, a new concierge at a resort in the Pokémon world made specifically for Pokémon. It’s packed with adorable felt-like Pokémon, including a Psyduck that has absolutely stolen my heart.
Pokémon Concierge comes as part of a greater push from The Pokémon Company to expand its media franchise — something that’s seen a huge amount of new projects announced and released this year. It included two new Pokémon animated projects, Path to the Peak and Paldean Winds, as well as the launch of a rebooted main series Pokémon anime, subtitled Horizons, which recently got a UK release date before the US.
Pokémon also crossed over with Hatsune Miku, with a series of illustrations and even full-length songs being released over the past few months. And that’s before you even get to the live-action Pokémon drama series that started airing in Japan last month. With all these incredible new media projects, it’s truly a wild time to be a Pokémon fan.
Pokémon Concierge will release exclusively on Netflix on December 28, 2023.
