This Poolhouse Design Idea Looks Like It Belongs in 'Inception 2'

There are plenty of beautiful poolhouses out there, to be sure, but this one definitely takes the cake. In fact, I'm pretty sure it takes the entire bakery! The swimming pool here isn't just on the grounds of the main house, and it isn't just inside the house either-it is literally part of the house, with one enormous plexiglass wall of the living space looking straight underwater and into the swimming area. Kind of like a giant fish tank in reverse.

If it seems like science fiction or fantasy, well, that's probably because it is: This is a concept house, meaning it doesn't actually exist in reality. Which makes perfect sense, given that it was created by the aptly named AntiReality, the same avant-garde architecture-design collective that brought us the gorgeous but somewhat-less-than-practical concept home called Summer House, featuring an inverted-rooftop pool that encompasses the entire footprint of structure. (Trust me when I say that AntiReality has a real gift for fantastical structures built around water. A scroll through its Instagram feed will not disappoint.)

This design is called Blue House, and it's easy to see why-the view from inside the house goes straight out into the deep blue and beyond, through the water of the pool and out to the sea. The effect is truly dazzling (if a little nerve-racking!). As in Summer House, the living space here is underneath, and the rooftop is where the real magic happens. One entire side of the Blue House structure is taken up by the pool, a semicircular, floor-to-ceiling cross-section of the home, and the rest of the roof is a pool deck-slash-patio area that can be reached by vertiginous circular stairs. (Yikes! Might need to take a rest in that comfy-looking pillow pit after climbing those.)

Since we're speaking in pure hypotheticals here, I think this structure is best built right on an oceanside cliff, to take advantage of those 360-degree rooftop views and make sure you see even more glittering blue water beyond the pool. Imagine the sunsets! Though to be honest, it would be pretty cool in the middle of a forest, too, surrounded by majestic trees on all sides. Or maybe at the top of a mountain? In any case, let me be the first to wish you all the very best of luck in finding a pool service to clean it.
