Popeyes Rolling Out Sweet and Zesty New Wing Flavor
Popeyes logo is seen on the restaurant in Chicago.
Popeyes is kicking off spring with a new variety of wings that perfectly melds sweet and savory spices, so fans don't have to choose between the two.
The Louisiana-inspired chicken joint announced on Tuesday, March 19, that a brand-new flavor of wings is being added to its lineup. According to the brand, the new addition was made available immediately, but only through the Popeyes app or online. Those looking to purchase the new item in-store will have to wait until it officially hits menus on Monday, April 1.
So, what is the new flavor? We're glad you asked. Drum roll, please...now introducing Popeyes' Honey Lemon Pepper Wings!
The fast food chain's recent addition joins its roster of flavor-packed wings, including Honey BBQ, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot, Ghost Pepper, and Sweet 'N Spicy. Like its five predecessors, the Honey Lemon Pepper variety features six marinated crispy chicken wings, which are reported to pack "a sweet and tangy punch with zesty lemon and a bit of peppery heat from black pepper...with an extra hint of honey sweetness."
Foodie influencer Snackolater shared a preview of the new menu item online and it's already receiving a ton of love, with fans declaring, "These look good," and, "Wow. They got it."
The juicy new option is just another source of joy for fans of the brand, as the announcement comes a few weeks after Popeyes confirmed it would be bringing back two beloved seafood options: the Flounder Fish Sandwich and Shrimp Tackle Box.
“We’re on a mission to continue transforming the wing game and elevate the wing flavors consumers know and love in a way only Popeyes can,” said Amy Alarcon, the vice president of culinary innovation at Popeyes, in a statement. “By introducing Honey Lemon Pepper Wings, we’re doing more than expanding our menu; we’re inviting our guests to rethink what they know about great wings. It’s a bold move, sure. But, bold is what we do best.”
