Popular New Orleans restaurants offering specials for next six weeks
NEW ORLEANS (BRPROUD) — New Orleans hopes to drive diners from the capital city to the Crescent City for its annual “COOLinary” New Orleans event.
Some of the finest restaurants offer their top dishes at bargain prices from Aug. 1 through Sept. 15.
Chef Dook Chase is the great-grandson of the legendary Dooky Chase Restaurant founders, who in the 1940s and 50s hosted high-level national civil rights strategy sessions at their eatery in the historic Treme section of New Orleans.
“When you talking about the culture and traditions in New Orleans, you have to be speaking about food. We have wonderful Creole cuisine, but we have Cajun cuisine. We have food that touches the soul. We have Italian influences. So, all of these different cultures coming together, I call it the all-star cuisine that we have here in New Orleans. Each time you come and visit New Orleans, you’re going to taste a little bit of home and bring it back with you,” said Chase.
