Melania Trump makes her first public appearance in weeks and appears to be 'perfectly healthy'
Melania Trump is back in the spotlight, ending a 26-day vanishing act to attend a meeting at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The first lady wore a camel-colored shirt dress to accompany President Donald Trump to the FEMA headquarters in Washington, DC., and receive a report on the 2018 hurricane season, one year after storms Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria inflicted deadly damage on various parts of the country.
Hunter Walker, a White House correspondent for Yahoo News tweeted, “The pool report from @KateBennett_DC on the First Lady’s appearance at the FEMA event says Melania was “looking well, like her old self” and “perfectly healthy from at least her outward appearance.”

During the meeting, the president said, “I’d like to pay some respects to some of the people here today, I have a list. of course, we have to start with our great first lady Melania. Thank you, Melania. She’s doing great. She went through a little rough patch but she’s doing great and we’re very proud of her. She’s done a fantastic job as first lady.”
Then, turning to his wife of 13 years, he said, “The people love you. The people of our country love you. So, thank you, honey.”

The media has been tracking Melania’s every move since her last public appearance on May 10th. After being hospitalized for a benign kidney infection and treated with an embolization procedure during the week of May 14th, Melania canceled scheduled appearances with the president such as a June 1st family getaway to presidential retreat Camp David in Maryland, Friday’s G7 Summit in Quebec, and the June 12th North Korea Summit during which the president will meet with leader Kim Jong Un.
However, on Monday, Melania greeted Gold Star families at the White House for a Memorial Day reception that was closed to the press. A video depicted her walking through the crowd on the arm of her husband, wearing a black, sleeveless dress.

While rumors of the first lady undergoing plastic surgery and filing for divorce have run rampant, official spokesperson Stephanie Grisham told CNN that “She is fine, she’s doing great.” And in late May Melania tweeted “I’m here at the White House with my family, feeling great and working hard…”
I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing. Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!

The president has also been defending his wife, joking at Monday’s reception “Did she leave him?” And on Wednesday, he tweeted that the media is “unfair and vicious” for perpetuating a “sick narrative.”
The Fake News Media has been so unfair, and vicious, to my wife and our great First Lady, Melania. During her recovery from surgery they reported everything from near death, to facelift, to left the W.H. (and me) for N.Y. or Virginia, to abuse. All Fake, she is doing really well!

…Four reporters spotted Melania in the White House last week walking merrily along to a meeting. They never reported the sighting because it would hurt the sick narrative that she was living in a different part of the world, was really ill, or whatever. Fake News is really bad!
