Pretty Little Event Co. specializes in sleepovers, picnics
FOWLERVILLE — Livingston County is home to a unique selection of small businesses, and that number just grew.
Pretty Little Event Co. — an event coordinating and rental company — launched earlier this month in Fowlerville.
The business focuses on transforming events from “basic to beautiful,” according to social media, offering multiple customizable party packages.
“Basically, we're kind of like a party planning and rentals company,” owner Christy Killen told The Daily. “I do luxury sleepover parties, luxury picnics, custom events and rentals.”
Killen said owning a small business has always been her dream. She was involved with her father's business growing up.
“I'm very familiar with the small business background, so I knew that was something I always wanted to do,” she said. “It was basically just finding what I was most passionate about, what was going to fulfill me. I love helping people and doing things for other people, and I love decorating and styling events, so I basically just put those two things together.”
The product is a company that coordinates unique events for a wide age range. The current focus? Sleepovers and picnics.
“The sleepover parties are basically indoor teepee parties for kids. They’re themed parties, so I have a selection of themes they can choose from, or they can create their own,” Killen said.
As part of the package, Killen supplies individual teepees, air mattresses, bedding, table trays, LED lights and themed decorations. Sleepover parties start $175 for two people.
While the sleepovers cater to youth, luxury picnics are more adult-oriented, and include an indoor or outdoor low-profile picnic setup starting at $125 for two people.
“You get to choose your location,” Killen said, from homes to parks to greenhouses.
“We basically tailor a package specifically to the customer's budget and their needs so we can make it more accessible for everyone and still give them a beautiful event," Killen said.

As for future plans? Killen hopes to offer “glamping” packages over the summer and work more closely with the community.
“I'm hoping to get involved with some nonprofits, maybe the schools, things like that,” she said. “That’s going to be another thing I’m going to try to work on over the next few months.”
