Prince Charles Keeps Forgetting Not to Shake Hands With People

Coronavirus precautions are tough to remember whether you're royalty or a commoner. Prince Charles, official royal and a shining beacon of coronavirus prevention, forgot the no-handshakes policy during his latest outing, according to Entertainment Tonight. Videos from the Prince's Trust and TK Maxx & Homesense Awards at the London Palladium show him reaching for Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London Sir Kenneth Olisa's hand to offer a shake, but he remembers the new rules just in time and offers a greeting and a "namaste" instead.

"It's just so hard to remember not to," Charles said as he greeted Olisa.

ET adds that the prince continued to try and shake hands as he made his way through the receiving line, proving that some habits are very hard to break, especially when royal duties call for lots of hand-shaking.

Charles was better about the hands-off policy at Monday's Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey, where he joined the royal family. He offered prayer-style namaste hands at that event, as well, though Prince Harry opted for a forearm bump when he greeted singer Craig David.

Handshakes aren't the only thing being affected by the coronavirus outbreak in the U.K. The Telegraph reported that Princess Beatrice's wedding could be postponed.

"The coronavirus has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works. Although there’s no suggestion that Italy will remain in lockdown until the end of May, obviously the whole thing does cast doubt over the guest list," a source told The Telegraph. Though the wedding is set to be held in London, Beatrice's fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, is from Italy, which is currently under a country-wide quarantine.
