Did Prince George accidentally reveal the royal baby's name months ago?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on Wednesday.
And while speculation has been swirling for months over what the royal couple would call their newborn, it appears one member of the royal family might have given it away months ago.
In January, The Sun reported that Prince George told a dog walker that his name is Archie when he was out with his grandmother Carole Middleton and his sister Princess Charlotte in Berkshire.
The woman reportedly said at the time: “I was asked by a police minder not to take a photo of the children, which I didn’t, but George started stroking my dog. Just to be friendly I engaged in a bit of small talk and I asked George what his name was, even though obviously I knew it.”
She continued, "To my astonishment he said, ‘I’m called Archie’ with a big smile on his face. I don’t know why he calls himself Archie but kids often play with their names and I think it’s lovely.”
Could the young prince have overheard his Uncle Harry and Aunt Meghan discussing baby names? Possibly!
Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, have surprised everyone with their choice of name. Bookies favored Alexander, Albert, Arthur and James for a boy.
The duke and duchess have chosen not to give their son a courtesy title at this time (they could have used Harry’s subsidiary, the Earl of Dumbarton). Therefore their newborn will be known as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
He was born at 5:26 a.m. GMT, weighing 7 lb., 3 oz., on May 6, 2019.
