Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis Make Their Trooping the Colour Carriage Debut
Prince William and Kate Middleton's three kids Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis made their debut in the Trooping the Colour carriage ride at today's celebration. The Cambridge kids rode with their mom, Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and their step-grandmother, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, in the parade.
George, 8, Charlotte, 7, and Louis, 4, are around the same ages that their royal relatives made their Trooping carriage debuts. Their father, Prince William, made his first appearance at age 4 in 1987. He rode in a carriage with his mother, Princess Diana, and great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Queen Elizabeth made her debut in the parade at five years old, in 1931. She rode with her grandmother, Queen Mary, and Lady Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, the Duchess of York.
This is not the first time the Cambridge kids have appeared at Trooping the Colour, however. They have been on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the RAF flypast in recent years—with Prince Louis making his balcony debut most recently, in 2019.
Prince Louis appears to be wearing the same outfit today that Prince William wore in 1985.
The carriage that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis rode in was followed by one carrying the Wessex family: Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and their two children, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn. In the last carriage, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester rode with Princess Anne's husband, the Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
Prince William, Prince Charles, and Princess Anne did not ride in carriages. Rather, they rode horses for this portion of the Trooping the Colour parade.
