Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis Will All Take Part in the Coronation Procession
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are expected to take part in the coronation procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace.
The Times reported today that according to coronation rehearsal plans, the royal kids will join their parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, behind their grandfather, King Charles, and step-grandmother, Queen Camilla, in procession to Buckingham with other members of the royal family. It was also reported that King Charles's coronation procession is planned to be much smaller than Queen Elizabeth's procession was.
George, 9, was widely expected to attend, as was Charlotte, who will have just turned 8 years old. However, the attendance of Louis, who will be 5, was up in the air. At Queen Elizabeth's coronation in 1953, a young Prince Charles was just 4 years old. He was photographed looking bored.
The Times reports, "Although the children’s presence has not been confirmed by Kensington Palace, documents show that after processing out of the abbey, they are expected to join their parents in a carriage behind the King and Queen, who will be in the Gold State Coach."
Their cousins, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have reportedly not yet been invited to the coronation. Archie will turn 4 on the day of his grandfather's coronation, and Lilibet will be just shy of her 2nd birthday. There's no word if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend the coronation, either. A spokesperson told Town & Country earlier this month, "An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time."
