New dad Prince Harry followed in Princess Diana’s footsteps this morning as he visited a center that she opened 30 years ago.

The Duke of Sussex is spending the day in Oxford while mum Meghan stays at home with their week-old son Archie. After stopping at Oxford Children’s Hospital where he was presented with a teddy bear for his son, the prince made a visit to the OXSRAD Disability Sports and Leisure Centre which Diana opened in February 1989. The center supports people with disabilities through sport and physical exercised and runs rehabilitation sessions, fitness classes and provides gym facilities.

Center fundraiser Chris Hunt, 66, was there for Diana’s visit and described the fact her son was back three decades later as “brilliant.”

“He’s just become a dad...maybe in another 30 years we’ll have Archie,” she tells T&C.

Hunt recalls about Diana’s visit, “I was helping with the children’s activities. I remember her sitting at the side watching.” She added that Diana was “so calm” and “so friendly and interested in what was going on.”

Center co-founder Julia Porter-Smith, 83, also spoke about Diana’s visit.

“She wandered around everywhere and joined in everything- on the floor and everywhere else. Ballroom dancing, she did the lot!” she said.

There was even a surprise question asked during the Princess of Wales's visit. “She said ‘And what’s through there?’" Smith remembers. "That was the gents loo and she went off and she went through the gents loo as well!”

After touring the facilities Harry unveiled a plaque commemorating his visit which will go next to the one Diana unveiled.
