Prince Harry isn't letting accusations of hypocrisy stop him from campaigning for sustainable travel practices. The Duke of Sussex is launching a travel initiative just weeks after he and his wife Meghan received backlash for taking a private jet while also being vocal about fighting climate change—criticism which was in part assuaged by the news that the flight was carbon neutral.

Prince Harry announced the new project, titled Travalyst, today at a symposium in Amsterdam. He's partnering with leading brands in the industry, including Booking.com, TripAdvisor, Skyscanner, Ctrip, and Visa, to create an organization "aimed at improving conservation, environmental protection and expanding local community economic development by encouraging sustainable tourism practices across the travel industry," per a press release about the initiative.

"Travel has the unparalleled power to open people’s minds to different cultures, new experiences and to have a profound appreciation for what our world has to offer," Harry said in a statement.

"As tourism inevitably grows, it is critically important to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices worldwide; and to balance this growth with the needs of the environment and the local population. Bringing companies, consumers and communities together is our best chance to protect destinations and ecosystems for future generations."

Thus far, details are slim in terms of the group's specific focus and course of action in the months to come, but we'll be sure to update you as soon as more information is released. In the meantime, visit travalyst.org for details.
