Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Apologizing to Well-wishers for This Hilarious Reason
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, are very busy people. They are, after all, two of the hottest royals on the market and have been jet-setting around the globe on their first official royal tour. Oh yeah, and they are expecting their first child this spring. But, apparently, that’s still no excuse for getting their wedding thank you notes out late.
A full six months after their royal wedding Meghan and Harry are still sending thank you cards to well-wishers around the globe. They are also apologizing for their late replies in the most hilariously British note ever.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have asked me to thank you for your letter of 24th May and I must apologize for the delay in responding to you,” a note sent from the head of the Correspondence Section at Clarence House, Claudia Spens, which was obtained by Hello Magazine, reads. “As I am sure you can imagine, this has been a particularly busy time for this office and we have, consequently, been unable to reply as quickly as we should have liked to."
The message continued: "It was so kind of you to take the trouble to write as you did and Their Royal Highnesses were immensely touched by your generous words of support. The Duke and Duchess were heartened to learn of the charitable donation you made to the Myna Mahila Foundation in their honor; this was most thoughtful and commendable of you and Their Royal Highnesses are incredibly grateful."
While it normally wouldn’t be that big of a deal for the couple to send out their thank you cards a bit late (according to The Knot, you’re supposed to send these cards within three months of your wedding), Meghan and Harry were put on royal blast by their cousin, Princess Eugenie.
Eugenie, who walked down the aisle just a few weeks ago, has already sent out her thank you cards to her friends, family and well-wishers.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding so special and for thinking of us as we start our married life," the couple wrote in their cards. "We are completely overwhelmed with happiness. Eugenie + Jack.”
We’ll forgive Harry and Meghan for their etiquette faux pas. But, this is their only pass. And we bet Eugenie will keep them on their toes, too.
