Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Attend Invictus Event, Concert for Queen
OUT AND ABOUT: With less than a month to go before their wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dashing around London for official – and personal – engagements. On Saturday night, they celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s 92nd birthday with a concert at Royal Albert Hall where Kylie Minogue, Sting, Tom Jones and Shaggy performed for the monarch.
Among the guests was Prince William, who is set to become a father for the third time when the Duchess of Cambridge gives birth later this month. The heavily-pregnant Kate Middleton wasn’t there so it was Markle who flew the fashion flag, donning a midnight blue Stella McCartney cape dress, and carrying a Naeem Khan clutch.
Earlier in the day Prince Harry and his betrothed, who wore a printed floral dress from Self-Portrait, a black blazer by Alexander McQueen and Manolo Blahnik heels, attended an Invictus Games reception in West London hosted by Malcolm Turnbull, the Prime Minister of Australia, and his wife, Lucy Turnbull.
The young royals met with servicemen and women from the U.K. and Australia and learned more about plans for the Invictus Games, which will be held in Sydney in October.
Prince Harry is the patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, which mounts the global sporting event for injured and wounded veterans and members of the armed forces.
Markle attended the Invictus Games last year when it was hosted in Toronto.
Earlier this week, the engaged couple attended a Women’s Empowerment reception in London that was hosted by Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.
Held at the Royal Aeronautical Society, the event included charities and organizations that support gender equality and girls’ education.
