Ahead of the publication of Prince Harry's memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex sat down with Anderson Cooper for an interview for CBS’s 60 Minutes. The interview will air this Sunday, and there are already a few dramatic teasers being promoted.
60 Minutes released a clip of Cooper asking Prince Harry, "Can you see a day when you would return as a full-time member of the royal family?" Prince Harry responds quickly, "No."
This is the second teaser that has been released. In the first, Harry told Cooper, "Every single time I’ve tried to do it privately there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife. You know the family motto is ‘Never Complain, Never Explain’ but it’s just a motto. And it doesn’t really hold."
About the royal PR machine, Harry continued, "They will feed or have a conversation with the correspondent. And that correspondent will literally be spoon-fed information and write the story. And at the bottom of it they will say that they’ve reached out to Buckingham Palace for comment. But the whole story is Buckingham Palace commenting. So when we’re being told for the last six years we can’t put a statement out to protect you but you do it for other members of the family, there becomes a point when silence is betrayal."
Spare, set to be released January 10, is touted as a "landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief."
The memoir comes on the heels of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, which documented their love story and decision to step down as working royals—a decision Harry clearly does not regret.
