Prince Harry Is Worried ‘There’s Too Much Hysteria’ Around Meghan Markle
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend this month on break from royal duties along with the rest of the family. But when they get back, there may generally be less access to Meghan (and this month there will definitely be, since they're on private vacation). A source tells Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl that Harry is concerned about the frenzy over Meghan. “He worries there is too much hysteria around Meghan and he wants to row back a bit,” the source said-as in, retreat a bit from the spotlight.
As Nicholl pointed out, the Express's royal reporter Richard Palmer tweeted earlier this week about how restricted access to Meghan is already becoming. “Royal rota journalists are being kept further away from [Meghan] than we were before the wedding That means we can’t hear what she is saying. If you can’t get direct quotes from members of the royal family that often makes for dull stories. You go up afterwards and ask what she said. ...So, just as with Kate, that inevitably leaves you with little else to write about except what she wore and looked like."
The two are basically ex-communicating friends who speak to the press, too. “They both expect a code of silence. If you talk to the press you’re out,” Nicholl’s source said. “Harry didn’t used to care that much about what was written [in the press], he just said it was a load of shite, but he’s very protective of Meghan and defensive these days.”
