  • Princess Charlotte and Prince George had a “dress rehearsal” before the royals’ Christmas walk.

  • This was the first time the royal kids attended the annual walk.

2019 has been a pretty yikes year for the royal family (gonna go ahead and @ Prince Andrew on this one), but I think we can all agree the annual Christmas walk was a pretty big success thanks to Prince William and Kate Middleton bringing Prince George and Princess Charlotte along for the ride. The royal kids nailed their debut walk, happily accepting flowers and hugs from well-wishers, all while being generally adorable. Like, Charlotte even curtsied to the queen! Too cute.

And while George and Charlotte are natural pros, the Daily Mail reports that they did have a “dress rehearsal” before the big day. Said rehearsal went down a few days prior, when Prince William took Charlotte and George to St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham to explain its layout and prepare them for the well-wishers who’d be handing them gifts and flowers.

Apparently, the success of Charlotte and George’s debut was “simply a happy bonus and it was a beautiful day,” according to a source—especially since there was a fair amount of concern about how the annual tradition would be received in the wake of Prince Andrew’s scandal.

In other words, George and Charlotte are the best, should be in charge of all royal events from now on, etc.
