Prince William and Kate Middleton Offer a Rare Peek Inside Their Home During a New Video Call
As the coronavirus crisis rages on, members of the royal family are trying to continue their duties virtually, with every video call showing off a sliver of their previously private home work spaces.
Earlier this week, Prince William and Kate Middleton offered their thanks to teachers at a school staying open throughout the crisis for the children of essential workers. On a video call (which appears to be of the Zoom variety), they chatted with staff and students at Casterton Primary Academy.
“We just want to say a huge thank you to you guys and well done in keeping it all going,” Prince William said during the call. “Please pass on many messages of support for all the staff and all the volunteers—they’re doing a great job.”
Kate, too, shared her gratitude, saying:
“Well done honestly to you and everyone who’s in during this time. It must be such a relief for all the parents who are key workers to know that the normality is there for their children—they’ve got the structure, and they’ve got a safe place for them to be, so really really well done to all of you.”
In addition to being a nice gesture of thanks for the teachers, the call also offered a sneak peek inside Will and Kate's home. While the Cambridges have yet to officially confirm where they are socially distancing, it is thought that the royal couple and their three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, have all decamped to Anmer Hall, their country house in Norfolk.
Regardless of where they are, based on this video call, it's clear that Will and Kate prefer a classic neutral aesthetic for their home office. The wall pictured behind them is beige; the door is cream; and a piece of furniture—perhaps an armoire?— over the Prince's right soldier is a soft shade of turquoise. Other design elements in the space include Kate's classic wooden chair, which is just barely visible, and a small work of art which appears to be a landscape scene. Sadly, they don't have shelves of personal photographs behind them, like Charlesand Camilla did in their recent work-from-home photos.
This comes just a little over a week after the Cambridges showcased their Kensington Palace workspace in new photos. See those images, which showed Prince William sitting at a desk next to a printer, and Kate working alongside her collection of books, below:
