This morning, Prince Charles was surrounded by close family as he celebrated the 50th anniversary of his investiture as the Prince of Wales. Charles's wife and two sons were at this morning's party at Buckingham Palace, as was his sister Princess Anne.

Given that Charles's two brothers Prince Edward and Prince Andrew were not at the festivities, Anne's attendance is likely a nod to her presence at Caernafon Castle in 1969. As Edward and Andrew were only 4 and 9 at the time, they stayed home.

Anne was spotted at the reception chatting with her nephew Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex. She wore a plaid coatdress for the occasion, which she paired with practical pumps and a small clutch.

The celebrations reportedly featured a performance by students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and a speech by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

"Never in the history of the role can there have been such dedicated service, such honorable fulfilling of the promise at the investiture," he said.

The Princess Royal has had quite the day. Before this morning's reception, Anne visited an organization called Citizens Advice Leighton-Linslade in Bedfordshire, which provides information to community members seeking advice about their rights.

She took the royal helicopter, ensuring she would make it back in time for the event at Buckingham Palace.
