Princess Charlene of Monaco Debuts Bob Haircut With Fringe Bangs, Channels ’70s Disco Glamour in Elie Saab Jumpsuit at 2024 Rose Ball
Princess Charlene debuted a new hairstyle while sparkling in Elie Saab. The Princess of Monaco attended the 2024 Rose Ball to benefit The Princess Grace Foundation on March 23 in Monaco alongside her husband, Prince Albert II. Other attendees included designer Christian Louboutin, and Caroline, Princess of Hanover.
For the disco-themed festivities, Princess Charlene fashioned a ’70s-inspired Elie Saab sequin and tulle jumpsuit. The look featured wide pant legs, a banded waist, fitted bodice and long sleeves, evocative of glamorous 1970s style.

Princess Charlene accessorized with glittering string earrings. But the centerpiece of her look was her new haircut. The Princess of Monaco opted for a hybrid of the pixie cut and classic bob, a style that fell just below her ears and framed her face with added fringe that fell at her eyebrows.
The Elie Saab jumpsuit highlighted several features the Lebanese fashion designer is known for, particularly his mastery of shape and sparkle. During January’s Paris Fashion Week, the fashion house debuted its spring 2024 couture collection, which took inspiration from Morocco’s geometric architecture. “The shapes are not the same and the embroidery is different, but it’s a sister,” the designer said, referencing his home country of Lebanon in contrast with Morocco.
Elie Saab has been a favorite among celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, who sat front row for the spring 2024 couture collection showcase. “Couture is not just a tool for us. It’s not just an image-maker like it is for maybe other brands,” said Elie Saab Jr., chief executive officer of Elie Saab Group.
“For us it is the core of our DNA and is an important part of our business. Of course, it has limitations in terms of growth and expansion because the clientele is very particular, but it remains an important business line.”
More recently, Elie Saab’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection hit the runway during Paris Fashion Week at the beginning of March. This time, Saab’s designs pivoted in a new direction, finding inspiration in the world of country and rock ‘n’ roll. The collection was titled “Memories of Graceland,” and looked to Priscilla Presley as its muse. Opening looks from the collection included swinging fringe on Western-style jackets, tops and a high-heeled cowboy boot, and a splash of rock ‘n’ roll sensibility, featuring lightning-bolt zig-zags embroidered on gowns.
