Princess Eugenie Gave a Special Shout-Out to Selena Gomez on Instagram

Selena Gomez Showed Off Her Inner Leg Scar in a New Swimsuit Picture

"Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am."

Last month, Selena Gomez was praised by many after sharing a swimsuit photo that showed off the scar on her inner thigh that resulted from her kidney transplant surgery in 2017. Her vulnerable social media post garnered more than 13 million double-taps, and most recently caught the attention of Princess Eugenie, who has been encouraging fans to embrace their own imperfections on Instagram.

"I thought this was super cool of @selenagomez to show she's confident of who she is and what she went through after finding it difficult to show her scar," Eugenie wrote next to Selena's original post on her Instagram Stories. She added, "Let's be proud of our uniqueness."

Selena previously revealed that she didn't want her scar to be visible in photos, so she "wore things that would cover it up," but now she's sees it as a sign of strength. "Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through...and I’m proud of that," she wrote alongside the snap of her wearing a blue one-piece bathing suit.

Meanwhile, Eugenie has been very vocal about her life-changing surgery since she first revealed her diagnosis in 2018, and for her wedding to Jack Brooksbank, the royal specifically requested that her gown feature a low back to showcase her surgery scars.

"I had an operation when I was 12 on my back, and you'll see on Friday [at the wedding], but it's a lovely way to honor the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this," she told ITV's This Morning ahead of her wedding day. "I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that."
