Princess Eugenie Thanks Fans Who Wished Her a Happy 29th Birthday
Following her 29th birthday on March 23, Princess Eugenie was quick to thank her devoted fans for their well-wishes. It's customary for royals to reply to those who send kind letters on important occasions, whether they're offering a "happy Christmas" (as the Brits say) or a "happy birthday." Often, royal watchers can wait months to receive their replies, but Eugenie's birthday thank you notes have already hit mailboxes, just a couple of weeks after her big day.
The letter was signed by Charlotte Fenn, identified as Eugenie's assistant private secretary, and included a sweet and simple message of thanks. "Eugenie of York has asked me to thank you for sending her your good wishes on her birthday," it read. "Her Royal Highness is very grateful to you for thinking of her and send you her best wishes."
The letter was captured by royal fan account @royal_replies_by_kris, and features Prince Andrew's badge, as Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice's mail is handled by their father's office at Buckingham Palace. (Interestingly, according to blog Gert's Royal Replies, Fenn is technically Prince Andrew's secretary as well, though it seems her purview includes some work with Princess Eugenie.)
Also of note: the letter uses the title "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York." Many thought that following Eugenie's wedding to Jack Brooksbank this past fall, she would drop the "of York" portion of her title-though it seems that may not actually be the case.
Prior to this formal message, Eugenie had thanked her fans in a more 21st century way. The royal posted on her Instagram account the day after her birthday, writing, "My 28th year was the best one yet. Now to being 29...Thank you for all the birthday wishes." The post featured a photo of Eugenie in her Grace Kelly-inspired wedding reception dress, alongside her new husband.
