Princess Eugenie Thanks Health Workers for Saving Her Father-in-Law from COVID-19 on Father's Day
Princess Eugenie celebrated Father's Day with two posts on Instagram. The first was a heartfelt message to the frontline workers who cared for her father-in-law, George Brooksbank, when he came down with a life-threatening case of COVID-19.
Brooksbank has since recovered after spending a significant period of time in a hospital, and five weeks on a ventilator. To thank the frontline workers who made his recovery possible, Eugenie recorded a video expressing her gratitude.
"I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Brompton Hospital for what you’ve done in saving my father-in-law’s life," she begins. The Princess notes that her father-in-law is back home, and has nicknamed himself "the miracle man," before continuing to address the workers who cared for him. "From the bottom of my husband and my heart, we just wanted to thank you for everything you’ve done of the frontline, for risking your lives and those close to you, and just making sure that we can all be safe and sleep well at night."
In a second Father's Day post, Eugenie shared two photos: one of herself with her dad, Prince Andrew, back in the day; and a second more recent image of her with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and his parents. "Happy Father's Day to my father and father-in-law and to all fathers celebrating today and everyday..." the Princess added in a comment.
Although a fairly innocuous Father's Day post on the surface, it is notable that Princess Eugenie chose to celebrate her father at all. Prince Andrew stepped back from his royal duties last winter, following a disastrous televised interview with journalist Emily Maitlis about Andrew's connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
