Princess Eugenie wore a 'fun and free-spirited' custom 'Mrs Brooksbank' bridal biker jacket on day 2 of the wedding celebrations

The royal wedding day was reserved for spotlight-stealing gowns, but Princess Eugenie’s fashion statements continued into the next day.

British designer and bespoke tailor Sam Dougal revealed that the princess wore something slightly more casual during day two of the wedding celebrations — a pale pink biker jacket. The co-founder of Gainsbourg Atelier shared a sneak peek at the bespoke jacket Sunday on Instagram, revealing a super-sweet and on-trend detail. According to Dougal, “Mrs Brooksbank” is written in script on the jacket. And the best part is, it was embroidered in the princess’s own handwriting.

According to Harper’s Bazaar UK, the writing was on the back of the silk jacket, which Princess Eugenie wore over a bespoke white minidress.

She wore this outfit for the festival-themed party at her family home Saturday. “The look is an exciting and unusual one for a royal wedding, and had to go with the feel of the day,” Dougal told Harper’s Bazaar UK of the “fun and free-spirited” ensemble. Dougal also shared that the princess was very involved in designing this look, along with her stylist Sarah Price. “The three of us worked on possible ideas and directions and decided to go with a young and super-fun aesthetic. Much like Eugenie, the look is totally unique and full of fun. It’s a simple party dress with a modern jacket,” he explained.

He added, “The jacket keeps it young and modern and doesn’t take itself too seriously. … You only get married once, and Eugenie wanted to stay with white for the weekend’s celebrations.” He described the jacket as “fun and unexpected,” moving the look forward “into day one of her marriage, especially with what is written in embroidery on the back.”

The personal detail is not out of the ordinary for Princess Eugenie. It seems she put a lot of thought into everything she wore for her wedding; for example, she insisted on wearing a wedding gown with a low back to reveal her scoliosis scars. She skipped the veil in favor of an emerald-encrusted tiara borrowed from her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. And her matching emerald drop earrings were made for her as a gift from her new husband, Jack Brooksbank.
