Yesterday, Princes William and Harry and their wives Meghan and Kate reunited as a foursome for the first time publicly since the Sussexes officially stepped back from their royal roles. The group appeared to put any differences aside as they visited a flower memorial in Windsor for their late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, who died on Thursday at the age of 96.

While greeting the crowd, the newly named Princess of Wales opened up about how her children are taking the loss of their great-grandmother. Per the Independent, Kate was “welling up” as she told a group of children that “Louis said ‘at least Grannie is with great grandpa now.’”

Banita Ranow, from London, who overheard the Princess also spoke of how nice it was to see the brothers together again. Her mother, Baljinder Ranow, also added: “I felt so emotional and I felt the Queen would have loved it. I just hope in the future they remain like that and that the brothers come together, and the families.”

The appearance came just a few hours after William issued his first public statement as Prince of Wales, sharing a personal reflection on his grandmother's life, which read in part:

On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth was absolute. So much will be said in the days ahead about the meaning of her historic reign.

I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. I have had the benefit of The Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade. My wife has had twenty years of her guidance and support. My three children have got to spend holidays with her and create memories that will last their whole lives," he said. "She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.
